For and About:
Art and Reactions on the Anniversary of Superstorm Sandy
Curated by Radar Curatorial for Brooklyn Arts Council
Exhibition Dates: September 27, 2013 – February 14, 2014
For and About is a show focused on how artists have experienced and interpreted natural disasters, and seeks work that extends beyond documentation. The show is open to visual and literary artists based in Brooklyn, who wish to present work for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, and/or about the storm’s impact on Brooklyn. It is an opportunity to focus on the communities hit hardest by the storm, creating a space to reflect on the collective and individual experiences at the one-year anniversary.
A group exhibition of visual artworks will be on display at BAC Gallery and a site-specific installation integrated into the DUMBO community during the Dumbo Arts Festival. This multi-faceted exhibition will also be gathering written pieces to present in a limited-edition zine and to publish online at brooklynartscouncil.org.
