Radar Curatorial is participating in GLI.TC/H, an international gathering of noise & new media practitioners in Chicago with the group exhibition Glitch Generation online.
The Glitch art aesthetic is in part a reflection and representation of the digital age. The fast development and quick improvements of media devices like phones, cameras and computers have heightened our expectations of communications tools. The group exhibition Glitch Generation plays with our collective expectations by pointing out the malfunctions, mistakes and imperfections that inevitably occur despite our desire for perfection.
Whether the artist intentionally used a computer program to create a glitch, manipulated hardware to create a manufactured imperfect environment, or came across the aberration by chance, each saw an opportunity to create beauty and to work with color and form in a new way. These artworks are rooted in mistakes, either intentional or found, including “glitches” in the wiring of our brains.
The group exhibition Glitch Generation was originally shown at BAC Gallery, Brooklyn New York from December 2009 to June 2010.
