For and About: Art and Reactions to Superstorm Sandy
Brooklyn Arts Council
Curated by Radar Curatorial
Deadline to Apply: June 5, 2013
Exhibition Dates: September 27, 2013 – February 14, 2014
Three calls for submissions for work that extends beyond documentation for For and About: Art and Reactions to Superstorm Sandy, a curatorial project focused on how artists experience and interpret natural disasters. The show is open to visual and literary artists based in Brooklyn, who wish to present work dedicated to people affected by Hurricane Sandy, and/or about the storm’s impact on Brooklyn. For and About is an opportunity to focus on the communities hit hardest by the storm, creating a space to reflect on the collective and individual experiences at the one-year anniversary of the storm.

Artworks created in unsettled or resettled studios and art created in support or in response to the communities affected by the storm will be considered. Artworks of all dimensions will be considered but work must be able to be hung on a wall. Any chosen works on paper must be delivered to BAC Gallery framed and ready to hang. Framing is the responsibility of the artists although the curators and gallery director are available for consultation.
